Principal’s Update

Dear Students, Parents, Carers and Colleagues,

Welcome to the new academic year at Esher Sixth Form College. A particularly warm welcome to our new 6.1 students and their families, and welcome back to our returning 6.2 students.

We begin the year by congratulating the Class of 2026 on their A Level and vocational results. Behind these achievements are two years of sustained effort, personal development and determination, supported by the expertise and care of our staff and the encouragement of families. We are proud of our students and wish them every success as they take their next steps into higher education, apprenticeships and employment.

For our new students, September marks an important transition. Induction is about getting to know the College, building friendships, understanding expectations, and knowing where to turn for support. Adjusting to new subjects, routines and greater independence takes time, and I would encourage students to ask questions and seek help whenever they need it. Thank you to colleagues across the College for supporting students through these first weeks.

Our returning 6.2 students now enter an important year, building on the foundations of their first year while considering their next steps. Establishing good study habits early, acting on feedback and making full use of the guidance available will help students approach the months ahead with confidence.

Across both year groups, our focus remains on helping students become curious, resilient, and independent learners. We want them to develop confidence in their own judgement, take responsibility for their learning, and feel able to explore new interests. Our values of inclusivity, community and empowerment underpin this ambition and the support we provide.

The partnership between students, families and staff is central to a successful College experience. Thank you for the contribution each of you makes to our community. I look forward to seeing our students develop over the coming year and wish everyone a successful and enjoyable Autumn Term.
