During Wider Skills Week students take part in a wide range of activities that enhance their experience and develop their skills in teamwork, independence and communication.

Activities include sports such as kayaking, horse riding and football coaching; life skills courses like first aid, life-saving and cooking or creative opportunities like photography, song writing or theatre workshops. Other students participate in curriculum-linked trips and visits, many overseas. These visits often include experiences of work places – breweries, archives and libraries, factories, law courts and so on – and allow students to get a feel for different career areas.
