Extension Studies
Every student will choose at least ONE Extension Study option that best suits their interests and goals.
From scuba diving to acting, joining our jazz band or learning Russian, there is something for everyone – and if you can’t make up your mind, don’t worry – you can add another course to your timetable if you wish.

Choosing your Extension Study
During the online enrolment process, you can put down up to six Extension Study options. Please make sure you are happy with all of your six choices as you are likely to be allocated one of them. If you wish to be considered for a sports team, you must put that team as your first option.
Long or short course?
You can either do one long course or two short courses in your first year. Some of our courses such as membership of a sports team or Duke of Edinburgh are considered ‘long courses’ and will last up until Easter. If you choose a short course, these only last one term and you will need to choose another short course at changeover time in January, which you will follow until Easter.
Build Your Own Programme
In your second term you can add more enrichment options to your timetable such as another Extension Study or an Excellence Pathway to suit your interests and aspirations.
For example;
Thinking about a career in Law?
+ Extension Study: Debating Society
+ Excellence Pathway: Law Pathway
+ Oxbridge Support Programme
Thinking about a career in Medicine?
+ Extension Study: Extended Project Qualification (EPQ)
+ Excellence Pathway: Medics, Vets and Dentists Pathway
