Our Progression Guidance Department runs a dedicated programme of events and activities throughout the year to help students make informed choices about their future.

This includes one-to-one career appointments with a qualified careers advisor, support through the UCAS application process and Excellence Pathways, as well as events for parents and carers to find out about the opportunities available and how they can best support their young people.

Progression initiatives include:

  • Higher Education and Apprenticeship events – Every year, we host more than 80 universities, Higher Education Institutions and Apprenticeship Providers. Students attend a programme of specialist subject seminars followed by a carousel of activities and visiting the fair of exhibitors. In the evening, students and their parents/carers can attend the HE Fair together and hear more from university and apprenticeship speakers about the different application processes.
  • Apprenticeships – the College hosts a live webinar for students and parents as part of our Employment Seekers and Apprenticeships Information Evening, with presentations from external speakers including Esher Alumni who have all successfully pursued degree apprenticeships, so they can gain valuable work experience and a degree qualification.
  • Unifrog -Students and their parents/carers have unlimited access to a ‘destinations platform’ called Unifrog. Unifrog enables students to research career, apprenticeship and university course options; identify skills and experiences; draft CVs and personal statements and receive feedback from teachers and tutors. Unifrog can be used for up to three years after a student leaves Esher Sixth Form College.
  • Oxbridge Programme – a specialist programme of support to encourage all students, who are academically suited, to apply to the UK’s most famous and highest-ranking universities.
  • Bookable career advice discussions – opportunity for one-to-one sessions with a qualified careers advisor.
If you would like an individual careers advice discussion, please email [email protected].
  • Regular Progression Bulletins – detailing latest career advice, university open days and part time job opportunities.
  • The Internship – a virtual three-day work experience opportunity with input from leading industry speakers.
  • After Esher Day – a day dedicated to progression for our 6.1 students. For those thinking about university, there is help with completing your UCAS application. While for students seeking employment or an apprenticeship, we offer a complete mock assessment centre exercise.
  • CV and Personal Statement Writing Workshops – expert advice on how to create the right impression from the start
  • Career lunches and subject seminars – throughout the year invited speakers come and share their career stories and inform students about careers and university degree courses.
