Students attend Mansion House Energy Conference
Two 6.1 students, Conor T and Theo M, had a highly successful day of work experience in December when they assisted at the Duke of Edinburgh Future Energy Conference, held at Mansion House, the official residence of the Lord Mayor of London.
The students independently organised this one-day placement, recognising it as a valuable opportunity to be involved in a major international conference that brought together C-level executives, senior stakeholders, and market leaders from across the business, energy, and sustainability sectors. The experience gave Conor and Theo exposure to the industry, allowing them to observe high-level discussions and engage with professionals working at the forefront of future energy policy and innovation.
A highlight of the day was the opportunity to meet HRH The Duke of Edinburgh, Patron of the biennial conference, which was founded as an initiative by His Royal Highness.
Theo commented on the experiences saying,
“A fantastic event showcasing problems (and solutions) to do with many aspects of non-renewable and renewable energy sources. A very surreal experience and it was fantastic to meet all kind of expertise including HRH.”
Conor and Theo played an important operational role during the event, managing the wireless microphones for audience questions. This required efficiency, confidence, and professionalism to ensure speakers were not kept waiting and that sessions ran to time. Both students carried out this responsibility with maturity and a positive attitude.
Ashutosh Shastri, Master 2025–26 of the Worshipful Company of Fuellers, praised the students, commenting that they demonstrated “firmness and politeness in this important aspect of the role.” He added,
“They were an absolute pleasure to work with. I appreciated their maturity and professionalism as young students.”
Well done to Conor and Theo on representing the College so positively and making the most of this outstanding opportunity.
