That’s a wrap! Goodbye from the SU
As our term in office draws to a close, we are looking back on what a fantastic experience we’ve had as a team and remembering all the incredible events and changes that have taken place across the year.
Starting off strongly with Culture Day back in May, we raised £40 for ECAT, a charity that helps provide education for children in Zimbabwe and other parts of Africa. Students were given the opportunity to dress up in their cultural clothing and share cuisine from these respective cultures, allowing us to celebrate something the Student Union greatly values, inclusivity.

Moving into the summer term, the Student Union held a Colour Run celebrating the LGBTQIA+ community as part of Pride Month as well as the highly anticipated Summer Festival. Both events brought the Esher Sixth Form College community together, whether it was getting covered in coloured powder during the colour run or by capturing memories in a photobooth during the Summer Festival.
After the summer holidays, we welcomed our new 6.1 students with the Fresher’s Fair, helping us make the difficult transition between secondary school and college a smoother and less stressful process. We, the Student Union, know the challenges that come with moving up from school, that’s why we make it a priority to serve the student body in any way we can.
To take some of this stress off, we organised a Silent Disco as a way for students to dance off any nerves that came with the move to college as well as some Halloween fun raising a further £310 for ECAT. Then, with Christmas fast approaching, we finished off the year with a very successful Pyjama and Movie Day, Christmas chocolate tombola and a refreshment stand at the Cluedo College Production raising £575 in donations for Shelter.
For Valentine’s Day, romantic partners and friends alike had the opportunity to anonymously show their appreciation for the people they love by sending messages, roses, and chocolates. We made £315, all of which went to Save the Children.
With the majority of our Student Union being female, International Women’s Day was something close to our hearts so for our penultimate event, we commemorated the work of strong women from Cher to Greta Thunberg with games such as match the quote to the women.
Lastly, it was Green Week. To emphasise the importance of sustainability, we had a clothes swap and created the slogan “Your Esher. Keep it Clean” as a running theme for the week.
These events would not have succeeded if it wasn’t for the engagement of the whole of college community, so thank you everyone for making these events so incredible. We are very excited to welcome the new Student Union in May, and we wish them all the best.
Goodbye from the 2025/26 Esher Student Union x
