College Nurse Service
The College Nurse service ensures that all students' health needs are supported throughout their time at Esher. Whether it is a physical or mental health need, short or long–term, support is available to ensu re that provision is in place on an individual student basis. Students can pre-book appointments or drop in and speak to the College Nurse in confidence about any health concern they may have. They work closely with internal College services and also external services that students may engage with.
Trained counsellors are available to give individual help to students with work-related or personal concerns that they prefer to discuss in confidence. Counsellors can also give information about other organisations that help with a variety of problems. We actively encourage students to disclose any concerns either before they join the College or whilst a student so that we can provide appropriate support.
Esher Sixth Form College recognises that mental health and wellbeing is a growing concern and therefore the Student Welfare Team are dedicated to promoting and supporting mental health. The College aims to provide a supportive, inclusive environment and is therefore proactive in its approach. Workshops and courses are run for students with anxiety and stress and events are organised to raise awareness. In order to maintain continuity and to provide support structures within the College for students diagnosed with mental health problems, the College works closely with organisations such as Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) and outreach services.
Esher Sixth Form College is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of its students and staff and expects all members of the College community to share this commitment. We recognise that all members of the College community have the right to be safe and protected, both within the campus and whilst engaged in College-related activities. Esher Sixth Form College ensures that relevant and effective safeguarding practices exist and are actively promoted and that it is understood by all that safeguarding is everyone's responsibility.
