Merry Christmas from the Student Union
It’s been a brilliantly busy term for the Student Union (SU) with Black History month, Halloween, Remembrance Day, Christmas and lots of fundraising for important causes near and far.
We launched October in style with Black History Month, celebrating the diaspora through a Silent Disco featuring Afrobeats, rap, and R&B. Over 75 students joined in for the lunchtime vibes!
For Halloween, we ran a Skeleton Hunt, with the winners taking home a well-earned pizza prize. Thanks to everyone’s generosity, we raised £365 for ECAT through student donations.
Following the Halloween fun, we were also tasked to launch a ‘Your Esher, Keep it Clean’ campaign, encouraging students to be more mindful of litter and to take pride in keeping our college tidy!
In November, the Student Union marked Remembrance Day by attending the service at the Esher Common War Memorial.
Our Christmas festivities kicked off with Pyjama Day and a college-wide vote for our favourite Christmas movie – Home Alone! Together, we raised £110 for the homelessness charity Shelter. Students also helped collate 50 Christmas hampers for the East Elmbridge Foodbank, supporting families in need during the holiday season.
Kyle, Marketing & Comms Executive for the SU said
“It’s been a brilliantly busy term. We’ve rounded it off with our popular Christmas Fair with hot chocolates, the very popular chocolate tombola, and student band performances from our wonderfully talented music department — all in support of the homeless charity Shelter. At this time of year, we feel especially committed to supporting those in need, and we’re proud of the compassion our Esher Sixth Form College community continues to show.”
What a great end to the year!
