Callum, who also studied Music A Level and Music Technology BTEC at Esher, went on to study Professional Musicianship (Guitar) at the BIMM Institute in Brighton, graduating in 2021. Since then, he has built a successful freelance career, working with a variety of artists and performing in live settings.

During his visit, Callum shared his journey into the music industry, offering students valuable insights into establishing a career as a self-employed musician. He highlighted the importance of reliability, creative flexibility, and building strong professional relationships, as well as the wide range of roles available within the music industry.

Callum also offered practical advice for aspiring musicians, including the importance of being proactive, maintaining a social media presence (Instagram is your best friend!), taking teaching opportunities, and valuing your work. He spoke candidly about challenges such as managing nerves and pressure, coping with irregular income, and using setbacks as opportunities for growth.

Students left inspired by Callum’s experiences and guidance, gaining a clear understanding of the dedication and resilience required to succeed in the music world.

The College would like thank Callum again for returning to share his time and expertise. Opportunities like this play an important role in supporting students’ career ambitions and professional development.
