Students considering French at A Level were given a taste of the exciting possibilities the subject offers during a special lunchtime session hosted by the Modern Languages department recently.

The ‘Careers with French’ event highlighted how studying the language can unlock international opportunities across a wide range of fields. Guests included Sophie Heywood, Associate Professor at the University of Reading; Gifford Morley-Fletcher, B2B Marketing Director; and alumni Louisa Bowman and Ben Leach, who both pursued French at A Level and shared how it has shaped their careers.

Head of Modern Languages Catherine Wilks captured the value of language learning, stating: “Languages are a genuine superpower in the workplace! They help us communicate across cultures, think analytically, and bring curiosity and empathy to everything we do.”

A heartfelt thank you goes to all the speakers for inspiring our students and showcasing the real-world power of French beyond the classroom.
