We were delighted to welcome 93 universities to the College for our annual Higher Education Day on Tuesday 21st March. In the morning, 6.1 students attended over 65 seminars led by academics from local universities, offering advice on what it is like to study particular degree courses at university. During the afternoon, students toured the convention, spoke to delegates from the universities and obtained prospectuses.  Students also had the opportunity to attend presentations given by the university representatives on ‘how to choose a university’, ‘student life’ and ‘researching your options’. Parents and Guardians were also invited to attend during the evening to tour the convention and talk to the university representatives and to hear more presentations to help with the university application process. Having so many universities under one roof provided students with an excellent opportunity to gather lots of information about higher education in a short period of time. It enabled them to really focus on life ‘after Esher’ and to start the process of choosing a course to study and potential universities to visit over the coming months. We believe that we are the only school/college in the country offering such a programme on Higher Education. Next term we are hosting the Next Steps event where we will be concentrating on employment opportunities for our students. Parents will be invited to attend the special evening presentations on apprenticeships and school leaver schemes.
