Open Evening Monday 1st July 2019, 4.30 - 8.00pm.
We look forward to welcoming you to Esher College for our next Open Evening, on Monday 1st July 2019 4.30-8.00pm. This event is for Year 10 students who are interested in joining Esher College in September 2020. However, if you missed last year’s Open Evening and you have a place to join us in September, you are very welcome to come along!
Attending the Open Evening event is not only a great way to get a feel for the College but it will also provide you with an opportunity to visit our departments and to speak to our students and teachers. During the evening you will have the option to attend our Principal’s talk and the Admissions presentation. You can also find out more about the wide range of support on offer by visiting our Learning Resource Centre 1. Our 2020 prospectus will be available, together with course information sheets for all of our A Level and BTEC courses. There is no need to book in advance, so please come along between 4.30-8.00pm. There are further details about travel and parking at the bottom of this page.
We will have Student Ambassadors at each of the entry points to the College, giving out our Open Evening visitor guides. The guide contains a map which will help you identify the departments within the College that you would like to visit, together with a schedule of the talks and services on offer throughout the evening. If you would like to plan your visit before you arrive, please download our Open Evening visitor guide below:
Open Evening 2019 Making the Most of your Visit
Here are our top tips on how to make the most of your visit:
1. Visit the subjects you are most interested in first
Every subject has opened up their teaching area for you to gain an understanding of the courses and the facilities available. With over 40 potential subjects on offer, there is plenty of choice!
2. Pick up our course information sheets
We provide a course information sheet for every subject, which provides information on what you will be taught, any specific entry requirements, how a subject is examined, where the subject could take you in the future and much more. These will be invaluable when you get home and start to reflect in more detail on the subjects you really want to study at Esher College.
3. Take the time to hear our Principal's talk
There will be a 10-minute presentation by the Principal, Dan Dean, in the College Theatre (Green Zone CT1) at 5.15pm, 5.45pm, 6.15pm, 6.45pm and 7.15pm. There will be further opportunities later in the 2020 application process to hear the Principal speak.
4. Drop in on our Admissions talk
There will be a 10-minute talk on the 2020 applications process in Learning Resource Centre 2 (Green Zone) at 5.00pm, 5.30pm, 6.00pm, 6.30pm and 7.00pm. The Admissions team will also be available in Learning Resource Centre 1 (Red Zone), to answer any questions you may have.
5. Talk to our students and staff
We have Student Ambassadors around the College and many departments have student helpers for the evening. Ask them why they picked Esher College, what they like most/least about Esher and what a typical day is like at the College. They will also be able to give you more insight to the subjects they study and how they made their decisions. Our staff will also be able to answer your questions about Esher College and studying their specialist subjects.
6. Visit the Learning Resource Centre 1 (Red Zone) to get information about the support and enrichment available tour students
There is so much more to Esher College than just the subjects we offer, so come to the Learning Resource Centre 1 (Red Zone) to find out more about what we offer for our extensive Extension Studies options, the role of our proactive Student Union, our Personal Development Programme (run during tutor time), how we support the Health and Wellbeing of our students and Student Finance. Here you will also find our Progression Guidance Team, who can guide you on which course to choose and provide expert careers advice.
