Sports Students Reach Out to Local Community
In collaboration with the North Surrey School Sports partnership, Esher College hosted its first ever student led badminton tournament on 26th February for over 32 primary school children. The Colleges Community Sports Leaders Award scheme (CSLA) which is run by the PE & Sport department provided 20 students with the opportunity to run the ‘Bisi Badminton’ session consisting of a warm up, fun games and some friendly competition.
The local primary schools in attendance were St Andrews (Cobham), St Pauls (Addlestone) and Meadow Primary (Stoneleigh). Feedback from the members of staff involved, the sports leaders and more importantly the children was very positive. The PE & Sport department is looking at furthering the opportunities for this kind of event through the partnership with another two dates already in the calendar.
Congratulations to all the Sports Leaders who showed great maturity and confidence. This builds on the leadership development that has been ongoing since September 2009.
